Kali Silat - Aggressive Forward

Last Kali Silat class I learned to work on my sensitivity.

During the empty hand drills (sticky hands) keep aggressive forward and do not turn my head.

Keep my trap until my partner moves (lifts up for the punch).

Switch my stance when my partner parries.

The body moves to accommodate the weapon.

YMCA - Self Defense

July 2, 2007 was my first day. I signed up for the YMCA self defense class. I stayed after class to see the advance class.

The exert/tense then relax exercise I saw reminds me of the yoga version to teach the body to relax. The YMCA instructor Jason informed me that the exercise will teach the body to tense at impact then relax.

Kenpo - Spacing

Instructor Khalsa mentioned the use of space. If the person does not move then you move, or move your opponent/partner to create the room necessary to execute the technique.

We did a thrusting sweep kick to closet leg, roundhouse to groin, center punch to solar plexus, back fist to face, and end with sidekick.

Kali Silat

Line drill using redonde and reverse redonde with foot work (naga)

Met Jimmy, Charlene, and Hector.

Reviewed double stick routine (part of 108 strikes).

Worked on sticky hands with foot work. I need to time my back fist strike when I stomp on opponents toes to break their ankle. I also need to be more forward aggressive in this style.

Made plans to take Club Kali Silat as a non profit organization.
